Gionee banks on retail markets in India, expands network

Gionee, one of the first Chinese manufacturers to enter India has always focused on the retail market in India, unlike new companies like Xiaomi and OnePlus, who follow online-exclusive model.

Gionee further expands its retail footprint in India by adding Spice, Mobiliti World, The Mobile Store, Jumbo Electronics, Croma Retail and Planet M to their retail partners. Focusing on retail market surely makes the MRP of their products higher but they also get to cater a large market and make good margins as well.

“Gionee handsets will now be available across 1000+ stores and the brand aims to sell 35000+ additional devices every month immediately and scale it up at a constant pace in the coming future”, said Gionee.

The company is currently selling its products via exclusive brand stores, shop-in-shops and the company’s e-store. They aim to open up around 250 brand stores and have 1000 service centres by next year in India. They currently have around 800 service centres.

On this association, Arvind Vohra, Country CEO and MD, Gionee India said,

“Indian smartphone market growth at a rapid pace and this association is our effort to increase our presence and making our handsets readily accessible to our customers anywhere and everywhere. We are glad to partner with the biggest names of the retail industry to officially sell our devices. Our consumers can now walk into any of these retail outlets and experience a Gionee smartphone. Through this move we look at increasing our sale by over 10 percent in the coming year.”
