Cyanogen OS 12 Lollipop update starts rolling out today

Cyanogen Inc has finally released Cyanogen OS 12 Lollipop update. It starts rolling out today for the OnePlus One.


The Cyanogen OS 12 Lollipop update has finally started hitting all the OnePlus One device starting today. Cyanogen Inc ditched OnePlus in India due to an exclusive deal with YU that meant no update for the Indian OnePlus One users. However, that is not the case anymore. In fact all users in India will get the Cyanogen OS 12 Lollipop update before YU Yureka users. Although YU Yureka device owners should expect the update in a couple of days.

The Cyanogen OS 12 is based on Android Lollipop 5.0.2 and it implements material design language throughout the whole operating system. Cyanogen OS has never looked better after the addition of material design elements of visual, motion and interaction design, claims Cyanogen Inc.

A new feature called App Themer has been introduced in the Cyanogen OS 12 Lollipop update that gives extra theming features, down to the granular ability to theme individual apps. More number of free and paid themes have been added. This now makes it even easier to customize your device than never before.

The new Cyanogen email client, powered by Boxer is making a debut with the Cyanogen OS 12. The premium version of Boxer now comes for free to all Cyanogen OS users. Now you can enjoy Exchange support, multiple account integration and canned responses for quick replies. You can customize your email and make it more fun by adding a different LED colour for email notifications and choose what happens when you swipe left or right on a message.

If you have recently flashed the newly launched OnePlus OxygenOS 1.0 on your device, you won’t be getting OTA update to Cyanogen OS 12. Although, you can flash it. If you’re an existing Cyanogen user, chances are of getting OTA update is very high. Do note, the update has started rolling out today in phase and it might reach your device after a couple of days.
