The world’s first thermal camera smartphone launched in India for Rs. 64999

Cat S60, the world’s first smartphone with a thermal camera has been officially launched in India. It was first unveiled at the MWC 2016 event last year. It comes with a dedicated SOS button, that sends out location coordinates message to pre-programmed contacts in case of an emergency. The Cat S60 features a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD multi-touch display, that comes with 540 nits of brightness and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The touchscreen can be used with wet fingers or while wearing gloves and can be easily viewed under bright sunlight. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (Quad 1.5GHz + Quad 1.2GHz) processor along with Adreno 405 GPU. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, which cannot be expanded further since it does not have a microSD card slot. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box.

The S60 comes with an underwater 13 megapixel primary rear camera (waterproof) with dual LED flash. It has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for clicking selfies and making video calls. It includes an embedded thermal camera by FLIR Systems. It will let the consumers to detect heat loss around windows and doors, spot moisture and missing insulation, identify over-heating electrical appliances and circuitry and see in complete darkness.

“The thermal camera visualizes heat that is invisible to the naked eye, highlighting temperature contrasts. It can pick up heat and measure surface temperatures from a distance of up to 50 to 100 feet, and see through obscurants such as smoke, enabling a huge range of use cases for building professionals, utility workers, outdoor sports enthusiasts, emergency first responders and more,” said the company.

The Cat S60 includes 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 3800mAh battery under the hood. According to the company, it is the world’s most waterproof smartphone as it is waterproof up to 5 meters for one hour, hence, can be used as an underwater camera as well. It exceeds military spec 810G since it is built to withstand drops onto concrete from up to 1.8 meters and is dust proof as well.

The Cat S60 is available in Black color and has been priced at Rs. 64,999 in India. It is now on sale via Amazon India and offline multi-brand outlets across the country.
