BlackBerry DTEK50 claims to be world’s most secure Android smartphone

BlackBerry DTEK50 has been officially launched yesterday. It is being dubbed as the “World’s most secure Android Smartphone”. It basically encrypts all the users’ information, that includes critical business and personal data. It is FIPS 140-2 compliant as well. Also, it comes with Malware protection along with back-up wipe and restore capabilities.

Coming to the software, it provides users with visibility and control over which apps get access to personal information or device features such as the microphone or camera. DTEK by BlackBerry app will enable the users to automatically monitor their OS and apps to know when their privacy could be at risk and to take necessary actions to improve it.

It also has Secure Boot Process so each stage of DTEK50’s secure boot chain must first verify that the next component is fully intact before proceeding, which will ensure that your device has not been tampered with since the last restart. Lets check out the specifications and features of the smartphone, which is quite similar to the Alcatel Idol 4.

BlackBerry DTEK50 Specifications

The BlackBerry DTEK50 features a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD scratch-resistant display. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (Quad 1.5 GHz + Quad 1.2 GHz) processor along with 550 MHz Adreno 405 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes with 16 GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 2 TB via microSD card. The device runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box.

The DTEK50 comes with a 13 megapixel primary rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and 6P lens. It has a 8 megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, 84-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling. It is 7.4 mm thick and weighs 135 grams. It supports Single SIM, comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack and FM Radio.

The DTEK50 includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB OTG and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 2,610 mAh battery under the hood which supports fast charging.

The BlackBerry DTEK50 is available in Black color and has been priced at US $299 (CA $429 CDN, 339 Euros, and 275 GBP) (INR Rs 20,140 approximately). It can be pre-ordered via in USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and The Netherlands. Customers pre-ordering the DTEK50 will get a free BlackBerry Mobile Power Pack worth US $59.99 till August 8th, as a limited time offer.
