ASUS Zenfone Zoom with 3X optical zoom now on sale in USA for USD 399

ASUS Zenfone Zoom is now available in USA, as expected, after being on pre-order since January 20. The device that is dubbed as the “thinnest phone with 3X optical zoom” was first introduced at CES 2015. Lets check out the specifications.

The ASUS Zenfone Zoom features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 64-bit processor with PowerVR G6430 GPU. It has 4 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and comes with 64 GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out of the box with Zen UI on top of it.

The phablet comes with 13 megapixel rear camera with f/2.7-4.8 aperture, Real Tone flash, Laser AF, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and 3X optical zoom. On the front, it has a 5 megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. It is 5-11.95 mm thick and weighs 185 grams. It comes with an aluminium unibody frame along with a leather back cover. It supports only a Single SIM (micro).


On the connectivity front, it comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GPS. The phablet comes with a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery under the hood that supports ASUS BoostMaster fast charging. It can charge 0 to 70% in just 39 minutes using the 18W fast charger that comes in the box.

The ASUS Zenfone Zoom is now shipping in USA via B&H Photo for US $399. ASUS had also recently launched the smartphone in India as well. It costs around $559 but comes with 128GB onboard storage and a processor with higher clock speed – 2.5 GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3590.
