ASUS unveiled the Zenfone 2 with a whopping 4 GB memory at CES 2015 in Las Vegas and the company has another device for us. ASUS Zenfone Zoom has now been unveiled at CES which sports a camera with 3x optical zoom.
The ASUS Zenfone Zoom is almost similar to the Zenfone 2 barring the camera. It has been specially made for the photography enthusiasts.
The ASUS Zenfone Zoom features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) LED display along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The display comes with a 72% screen-to-body ratio which indicates it has a slim bezel. It is powered by a 2.3 GHz 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor, which is said to be up to 3.1 times faster than some of its quad-core competitors. On this chipset, the graphics performance is also promised to be up to 8.1 times quicker and this supports OpenGL 3.0.
On the camera front, it has a 13 megapixel rear ‘Pixelmaster’ camera with an f/2.0 aperture and 3x optical zoom with optical image stabilization. It has zero shutter lag and also has “the world’s best HDR technology” according to the company. It as a manual mode which would allow you to control settings like exposure, ISO, white balance, focal point and shutter speed. The rear camera of the ASUS Zenfone Zoom also has laser based auto focus technology which was first seen in the LG G 3 and now in LG G Flex 2 for precise and speedy movements. The company also claims the device to be the thinnest smartphone with a camera having 3x optical zoom.
There is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies and video calling. It also packs in innovative features which includes a Beautification mode, that offers real-time image enhancement, skin softening and brightening, blush and colour correction, eye enhance and cheek thinning.
The ASUS Zenfone Zoom will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box with Zen UI on top of it. The company promises a better zero-lag touch experience with the new Zen UI and it will also feature ‘Zen motion’ that is basically gestures which can be used for assessing various applications. There will be an option called ‘SnapView’ which will allow you to separate work and personal accounts in the new Zen UI.
On the connectivity front, it comes with 4G LTE/3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS. The ASUS Zenfone Zoom has a 3,000 mAh battery under the hood which also comes with fast charging technology and charges 0-60% in around 39 minutes which is impressive.
The ASUS Zenfone Zoom has been priced at USD 399 (Rs 25,300 approximately) and will go on sale in the second quarter of 2015.
