At CES 2015, ASUS launched the first smartphone with 4 GB of RAM, the Zenfone 2 and also the slimmest smartphone with 3x optical zoom camera, the Zenfone Zoom. The company has also launched the ASUS Fonepad 7 FE171CG which is a successor of last year’s model at CES.

The ASUS Fonepad 7 (FE171CG) features a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) IPS display with Anti-Fingerprint coating and has 178-degree wide viewing angle. It is powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor along with PowerVR SGX544 GPU. The tablet comes with 1/2 GB of RAM and 8/16 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded via microSD card. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with the latest version of the ZenUI 2.0 on top of it. Hopefully it will get an Android 5.0 Lollipop update as well.
The ASUS Fonepad 7 comes with a 8/5-megapixel rear primary camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It is 7.9 mm thick and weighs 280 grams. The Fonepad has dual SIM option with dual standby mode.
On the connectivity front, the ASUS Fonepad 7 includes 3G HSPA+ (with voice calling), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS. The tablet packs in a 3,950 mAh battery under the hood.
The ASUS Fonepad 7 (FE171CG) will be available in White, Black, Red and Gold colour variants. The company will also sell MagSmart Covers for the tablet separately. There are no details about its availability or pricing yet.
