Apple refreshes 12-inch MacBook with new processor and Rose Gold color, price starts at USD 1299

Apple Inc. has refreshed the last year’s 12-inch MacBook with an upgraded processor, faster flash storage and it also gets an additional hour of battery life but other than the new Rose Gold color variant, it remains unchanged on the outside. Lets check out the specifications and features of the latest 12-inch Retina MacBook.


New early 2016 12-inch Apple Retina MacBook Specifications

The new MacBook features a 12-inch (2304 x 1440 pixels) LED-backlit IPS display that comes with a pixel density of 226 ppi and aspect ratio of 16:10. It is powered by a 1.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core m3 processor (Turbo boost up to 2.2 GHz) with 4MB L3 cache for the base model whereas the high end model rocks a 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Core m5 processor (Turbo boost up to 2.7 GHz) with 4MB L3 cache. However, both of them can be upgraded to 1.3 GHz dual-core Intel Core m7 processor (Turbo boost up to 3.1 GHz) with 4MB L3 cache. In terms of memory, it comes with 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM (1866 MHz) and has 256 / 512 GB of PCIe-based internal flash storage. All the variants have Intel HD Graphics 515 on board. It runs on OS X El Capitan (10.11.4) out of the box.

The new MacBook supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0 and has one USB Type-C port for all purposes. It comes with stereo speakers, dual microphones, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a 480p FaceTime camera. It has a full-size keyboard with individual LED backlit keys and Force Touch trackpad. It weighs 0.92 kg (2.03 pounds) and its dimensions are (0.35-1.31 x 28.05 x 19.65) cm.


The laptop rocks a built-in 41.4 watt-hour lithium-polymer battery which offers up to 10 hours wireless web, up to 11 hours iTunes movie playback and up to 30 days of standby time. It is powered by a 29W USB-C power adaptor.

The new MacBook is available in Rose Gold, Space Gray, Gold and Silver color variants and price starts at $1299 for the base variant whereas the high-end model costs $1599. It can now be purchased via starting today and will be available in Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers from tomorrow.

On this new announcement, Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said:

“MacBook is the thinnest and lightest Mac we have ever made and it’s our vision for the future of the notebook. Customers are going to love this update to MacBook, with the latest processors, faster graphics, faster flash storage, longer battery life and a beautiful rose gold finish.”
