Apple to launch iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in India on October 7, price starts at Rs 60000

Apple Inc. announced the latest iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at an event in San Francisco yesterday. Although both the iPhones come with a lot of new features, but still looks more or less the same from the outside. However, if you pick up the Jet Black or the Black (matte) finishes, then it would really feel new. These new iPhones go on pre-order from September 9 and will go on sale from September 16 in more than 25 countries. However, it is coming to India on October 7, 2016.

Apple India has confirmed that the new iPhone 7 (32GB) will start in India at Rs 60,000, which is a couple of thousands lesser than the price of the last gen iPhone 6s, that was launched at Rs 62,000. We do not know the starting price of the iPhone 7 Plus yet but expect it to be around Rs 70,000 to Rs 73,000. If Apple maintains order, the 128GB iPhone 7 will cost Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000 for the 256GB variant. However, it can get increased or decreased depending on the top brass at Apple Inc.

Now coming to the pricing of the accessories, the new EarPods with lightning connector is priced at Rs 2,500 and the Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter at Rs 900 in India, if you wish to purchase them separately, as they come in the box with both the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The new wireless Apple Airpods with charging case is priced at Rs 15,400 and will be available by late October. In case of cases, the silicone and leather cases start at Rs 2,900 in India. The iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case will be sold for Rs 8,900 in Black and White colors only.

If you want a Lightning Dock, it will cost Rs 3,700 and it comes in all iPhone colors with matching metallic finishes. This dock will allow you to charge your phone and plugin your 3.5mm headphones for music simultaneously.

The iPhone 7 rocks a 4.7-inch (1334×750 pixels) Retina HD LED-backlit widescreen multi-touch wide color display (P3) with IPS technology. It comes with a pixel density of 326 ppi and a contrast ratio of 1400:1. It has a maximum brightness of 625 cd/m2 with Full sRGB standard display and fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating on front. It has dual-domain pixels for wide viewing angles and support multiple languages and characters simultaneously. There is 3D Touch, which is basically a feature that will allow the device to know the difference between a slight tap and a longer or more forceful tap on the display.

The iPhone 7 is now powered by an all new Apple A10 Fusion quad-core chip, six-core GPU along with M10 motion coprocessor that has a 64-bit architecture and it packs in 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM as well for improved performance and faster graphics. It runs on the latest iOS 10 out of the box. It is IP67 rated and hence is water and dust resistant.

The iPhone 7 is equipped with a new 12 megapixel rear iSight camera with Quad-LED True Tone flash, f/1.8 aperture, 6-element lens and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and digital zoom up to 5x. It comes with Live Photos with Stabilization and also has Autofocus with Focus Pixels. Now, Panorama can go up to 63 megapixel. It now records 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) videos at 30 fps, 1080p Full HD video at 30 or 60 fps and 720p videos at 30 fps. There is OIS for video as well Coming to Slo-mo videos, it takes 1080p at 120 fps and 720p at 240 fps. Now, Time-Lapse videos come with Stabilization as well. You can also take 8 megapixel still photos while recording 4K videos. On the front, there is a new 7 megapixel front-facing selfie camera with Retina Flash for bright selfies. It comes with a f/2.2 aperture and can record 1080p Full HD videos. It is 7.1 mm thick and weighs 138 grams. There is a new home button where the fingerprint sensor is embedded. It is now pressure sensitive and comes with the new generation Taptic Engine.

There is no 3.5 mm audio jack onboard but Apple is packing in a lighting to 3.5mm adapter inside the box for free. The Apple iPhone 7 now comes with new stereo speakers that offers immersive sound that is two times louder than the iPhone 6s, with more dynamic range of sound and a higher quality speakerphone. It comes with EarPods that has lightning connector.

On the connectivity front, the iPhone 7 comes with 4G LTE, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with MiMo, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC (Apple Pay), GPS and GLONASS, VoLTE. It comes with sensors that include Touch ID, Barometer, Three-axis gyro, accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. It has a Li-lon battery (non-removable) that gives up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G. Internet usage of up to 12 hours on 3G, up to 12 hours on LTE, up to 14 hours on WiFi. It offers up to 10 days of standby time, up to 40 hours of audio playback and up to 13 hours of HD video playback.
