The upcoming Apple iPhone 7 Plus (phablet) is expected to feature a dual rear primary camera setup, according to KGI’s analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Earlier, they had quoted only the high-end configurations of the iPhone would adopt the new camera technology. Apple has changed their mind because of the fact that there is positive reaction from the customers towards both the LG G5 and Huawei P9 with dual camera setups. The point to be noted here is that there is no chance of getting this dual camera setup on the normal iPhone 7 (4.7-inch) but all the variants of the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus (or Pro) will get it.
The iPhone 7 Plus will also come with 3 GB of RAM as it needs to support the new image processing requirement. According to KGI’s analyst, Sony and LG would be able to meet Apple’s demand for dual-camera modules in 2016 and around 20-30 million units of the new iPhone are estimated to ship in 2016. The new iPhone 7 Plus camera will also come with an optical zoom built directly into the lens.
According to this latest leaked iPhone 7 factory CAD, the new iPhones will have the old camera bump, no 3.5 mm audio jack and possibly a Smart Connector as well.
If we summarize all the new iPhone rumours so far, it looks like Apple has decided to drop the traditional 3.5 mm audio jack, hence the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus (or Pro) will not come with the 3.5 mm audio jack and might feature a Smart Connector. Also, it might be officially ‘waterproof’ and sport a new ‘touch’ home button. The most hated antenna lines on the back will apparently disappear as well and will get redesigned for a more streamlined look.
The most important change which is not much talked about till now could be the change in the naming scheme. Apple might do away with the ‘number’ and simply call it the ‘All new iPhone’ whereas the ‘Plus’ lineup might become ‘iPhone Pro’. We will get more information about this in the upcoming months. These new iPhones are expected to launch in September 2016.
