Apple introduces the iPhone 7 with A10 Fusion chip, price starts at USD 649

Apple Inc. has officially launched the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at an event in San Francisco today. Both of them do not come with the 3.5 mm audio jack anymore but features the best battery life ever, immersive stereo speakers, two new colors, water and dust resistance and more. Lets take a look at the specifications and new features of the new iPhone 7 here.

Apple iPhone 7 Specifications and Features

The iPhone 7 rocks a 4.7-inch (1334×750 pixels) Retina HD LED-backlit widescreen multi-touch wide color display (P3) with IPS technology. It comes with a pixel density of 326 ppi and a contrast ratio of 1400:1. It has a maximum brightness of 625 cd/m2 with Full sRGB standard display and fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating on front. It has dual-domain pixels for wide viewing angles and support multiple languages and characters simultaneously. There is 3D Touch, which is basically a feature that will allow the device to know the difference between a slight tap and a longer or more forceful tap on the display.

The iPhone 7 is now powered by an all new Apple A10 Fusion quad-core chip, six-core GPU along with M10 motion coprocessor that has a 64-bit architecture and it packs in 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM as well for improved performance and faster graphics. It runs on the latest iOS 10 out of the box. It is IP67 rated and hence is water and dust resistant.

The iPhone 7 is equipped with a new 12 megapixel rear iSight camera with Quad-LED True Tone flash, f/1.8 aperture, 6-element lens and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and digital zoom up to 5x. It comes with Live Photos with Stabilization and also has Autofocus with Focus Pixels. Now, Panorama can go up to 63 megapixel. It now records 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) videos at 30 fps, 1080p Full HD video at 30 or 60 fps and 720p videos at 30 fps. There is OIS for video as well Coming to Slo-mo videos, it takes 1080p at 120 fps and 720p at 240 fps. Now, Time-Lapse videos come with Stabilization as well. You can also take 8 megapixel still photos while recording 4K videos. On the front, there is a new 7 megapixel front-facing selfie camera with Retina Flash for bright selfies. It comes with a f/2.2 aperture and can record 1080p Full HD videos. It is 7.1 mm thick and weighs 138 grams. There is a new home button where the fingerprint sensor is embedded. It is now pressure sensitive and comes with the new generation Taptic Engine.

There is no 3.5 mm audio jack onboard but Apple is packing in a lighting to 3.5mm adapter inside the box for free. The Apple iPhone 7 now comes with new stereo speakers that offers immersive sound that is two times louder than the iPhone 6s, with more dynamic range of sound and a higher quality speakerphone. It comes with EarPods that has lightning connector.

On the connectivity front, the iPhone 7 comes with 4G LTE, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with MiMo, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC (Apple Pay), GPS and GLONASS, VoLTE. It comes with sensors that include Touch ID, Barometer, Three-axis gyro, accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. It has a Li-lon battery (non-removable) that gives up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G. Internet usage of up to 12 hours on 3G, up to 12 hours on LTE, up to 14 hours on WiFi. It offers up to 10 days of standby time, up to 40 hours of audio playback and up to 13 hours of HD video playback.

The Apple iPhone 7 is available in Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Black and Jet Black colors in 32, 128 and 256 GB storage variants, however Jet Black is exclusive to 128GB and 256GB models. It has been priced at US $649 for the base 32GB model, $749 for 128GB and $849 for 256GB version. Apple Inc. has also launched the bigger iPhone 7 Plus, that starts at $769.

Pre-order starts this Friday, September 9 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UAE, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the US and it will go on sale starting from September 16, 2016. It will be available in Andorra, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Greenland, Guernsey, Hungary, Iceland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Kosovo, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Maldives, Malta, Monaco, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia and Slovenia beginning Friday, September 23. The iPhone 7 will also be available to customers in India beginning Friday, October 7, 2016.
