Apple iPhone 6s Plus retail price starts at USD 749 for 16GB base model

Apple announced the all new iPhone 6s Plus that comes in three different storage options and four different colors. Its pricing starts at US $299 in the US for a 16GB base model but that’s with a 2 year contract. However, if you want to purchase it without any contract, the Apple iPhone 6s Plus retail price starts at $749.


The iPhone 6s Plus starts at $749 (INR Rs 49,770 approximately) for the 16GB model, $849 (INR Rs 56,420 approximately) for the 64GB and $949 (INR Rs 63,080 approximately) for the max 128GB variant. The contract-free iPhone 6s Plus will be available across all the US carriers, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint. The Apple iPhone 6s Plus retail price would also include around 10% tax as these prices do not include them.

Apple also announced a new iPhone Upgrade Program for Apple Retail in the US which will enable the consumers to choose their carrier and get an unlocked iPhone 6s Plus with the opportunity to get a new iPhone every year and AppleCare+ with monthly payments starting at US $37.45 for 16GB, $42.45 for 64GB and $47.45 for the 128GB variant. This program is currently restricted to US only and will be launched in other countries later. It launches in USA, Canada, UK, Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and Singapore on September 25. Pre-orders will start on September 12 in all these countries. Apple plans to bring the new iPhones to more than 130 countries and on more than 400 carriers by the end of this year.


Apple iPhone 6s Plus Specifications and Features

The iPhone 6s Plus features a 5.5-inch (1920×1080 pixels) Retina HD LED-backlit widescreen multi-touch display with IPS technology. It comes with a pixel density of 401 ppi and a contrast ratio of 1300:1. It has a maximum brightness of 500 cd/m2 with Full sRGB standard display and fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating on front. Apple has introduced 3D Touch, which is basically a feature that will allow the device to know the difference between a slight tap and a longer or more forceful tap on the display. This feature was introduced on the Apple Watch and was also adapted in the New Macbook’s trackpads. It is now made up of stronger 7000-series aluminium alloy to make it more sturdier.

The iPhone 6s Plus is now powered by the all new Apple A9 chip along with M9 motion coprocessor that has a 64-bit architecture and it packs in 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM as well for improved performance and faster graphics. It runs on the latest iOS 9 OS out of the box.

The all new iPhone also comes with an all new camera. This is one of the biggest upgrade in the iPhone’s history, since Apple Inc. has been using the 8 megapixel sensor from iPhone 4s days. Now, it is equipped with a 12 megapixel rear iSight camera with true-tone flash, f/2.2 aperture, 5-element lens. It now comes with Live Photos and also has Autofocus with Focus Pixels. Now, Panorama can go up to 63 megapixel. It also has Optical image stabilization (OIS). It now records 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) videos at 30 fps, 1080p Full HD video at 30 or 60 fps and 720p videos at 30 fps. Coming to Slo-mo videos, it takes 1080p at 120 fps and 720p at 240 fps. You can also take 8 megapixel still photos while recording 4K videos. On the front, there is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with Retina Flash for bright selfies. It comes with a f/2.2 aperture and can record 720p HD videos. It is 7.3 mm thick and weighs 192 grams.

On the connectivity front, the iPhone 6s Plus comes with 4G LTE, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with MiMo, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC (Apple Pay), GPS and GLONASS, VoLTE. It comes with sensors that include Touch ID, Barometer, Three-axis gyro, accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. Now, there is a 2nd Gen Touch ID sensor baked into the home button that is twice as fast as the last one. It has a battery that gives up to 24 hours of talk time on 3G. Internet usage of up to 12 hours on 3G, up to 12 hours on LTE, up to 12 hours on WiFi. It offers up to 16 days of standby time, up to 80 hours of audio playback and up to 14 hours of HD video playback.
