A new Apple iPad Pro with 9.7-inch True Tone display has also been announced today at a special event, in addition to the new 4-inch iPhone SE. It is a smaller variant of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro launched in September last year. Lets check out the specifications and features of this ‘smaller’ iPad Pro.

The all new 9.7-inch Apple iPad Pro packs in a 9.7-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) Fully Laminated LED-backlit widescreen Retina Display with a pixel density of 264 ppi. It comes with a True Tone display feature which uses new four-channel sensors to dynamically adjust the white balance of the display to match the light around you for a more natural and accurate, paper-white viewing experience.. It has fingerprint-resistant oleophobic and antireflective coating. It is powered by a A9X chip with 3rd gen 64-bit architecture along with the M9 motion coprocessor. It packs in only 2 GB of RAM, unlike the 4GB RAM found in the bigger iPad Pro. It runs on iOS 9.3 out of the box. It packs in a lot of sensors including the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the home button, Three-axis gyroscope, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Barometer. It comes with 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB of internal storage options and there is no scope of putting in an external microSD card.
The iPad Pro rocks a with a 12 megapixel rear iSight camera with true-tone flash, f/2.2 aperture, 5-element lens. It now comes with Live Photos and also has Autofocus with Focus Pixels. Now, Panorama can go up to 63 megapixel. It now records 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) videos at 30 fps, 1080p Full HD video at 30 or 60 fps and 720p videos at 30 fps. Coming to Slo-mo videos, it takes 1080p at 120 fps and 720p at 240 fps. You can also take 8 megapixel still photos while recording 4K videos. On the front, there is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with Retina Flash for bright selfies. It comes with a f/2.2 aperture and can record 720p HD videos. There is a Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the home button as well. It weighs 437 grams (WiFi) and 444 grams (WiFi + Cellular) and is just 6.1 mm thick.
The four-speaker audio system provides powerful, clear and rich stereo sound for more than twice the audio output. Also, built-in sensors automatically adjust and optimize the audio no matter which way you’re using it. iOS 9.3 adds support for playing video encoded with Dolby Digital Plus audio streams with support for multichannel output using the Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter.
On the connectivity department, the new iPad Pro comes with 4G LTE (optional), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual channel) and HT80 with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS + GLONASS (Cellular only). It has a 27.5 watt hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery that promises up to 10 hours of web surfing on WiFi, watching videos or listening to music and up to 9 hours using cellular data network.
The all new 9.7-inch Apple iPad Pro is available in Silver, Gold and Space Grey color variants. It has been priced at US $599 for the 32GB WiFi model, $749 for 128GB and $899 for the 256 GB WiFi model whereas the price of WiFi + Cellular model starts at $729 (32GB), $879 (128GB) and $1029 (256GB). The Smart Keyboard will cost US $169 and the Apple Pencil will set you back by $99. It goes on pre-order from March 24 and rolls out on March 31. It launches in Australia, Canada, China (Wi-Fi models only), France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK, US Virgin Islands and the US in the first wave.
