Android 5 finally gets a nomenclature: Android Lollipop

Many rumors related to upcoming Android version were surfacing since months after Google teased the Android l at their I/O event this year. Strong sources hinted that it may be called Android Lollipop but  Google Source code documents hinted it to be Android Lemon Meringue Pie. Earlier this morning Mr. Sundar Pichai has posted a teaser in Google+ Showing various option for names of the upcoming Android.

Android LollipopSo finally the Android 5.0 is official and it would be called Android Lollipop.It has been announced alongside the Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 9 tablet in their official blog.

Android 5.0 Lollipop will ship on the just announced Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, but it will also will also be available on Nexus 5, 7, 10 and Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks. The SDK’s were made available to developers right after the Google I/O.
