Amazon has unveiled two new tablets in addition to the new Amazon Fire (2015) and also an upgraded Fire Kids Edition. We will take a look at the specifications and features of the Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet here.
Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet Specifications
The Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet features a 8-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) HD IPS display that has a pixel density of 189 ppi. It is powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT8135 processor along with PowerVR G6200 GPU. It has 1 GB of RAM and comes with 8 or 16 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Fire OS 5 based on Android Lollipop out of the box. It comes with the Amazon Underground app store that offers over $10,000 worth apps, games and in-app purchases for free.
The Amazon Fire HD 8 comes with a 5 megapixel primary rear camera that is capable of recording 1080p Full HD videos. On the front, it has a 720p HD front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The tablet is 7.7 mm thick and weighs 311 grams. It has a 3.5 mm audio jack, integrated stereo speaker with Dolby Audio. It also comes with an accelerometer and gyroscope.
The Fire HD 8 tablet includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth with A2DP, and USB 2.0 as connectivity options. The tablet claims to have a battery life of up to 8 hours with mixed usage.
The Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet is available in Black, Magenta, Blue and Tangerine color variants and has been priced at US $149.99 (INR Rs 9,880 approximately) for the 8GB variant and US $169.99 (INR Rs 11,200 approximately) for the 16GB variant. It can now be ordered on Amazon and the device starts shipping from September 30.
