40,000 units of Xiaomi Redmi 1s to go on sale today at 2pm on Flipkart

40,000 units of Xiaomi’s Redmi 1s were sold out on September 9 in just 4.5 seconds. It was literally war out there. Another 40,000 units will be up for grabs today on Flipkart.

If you have pre-registered for the Redmi 1s flash sale, you need to be online around 1 pm and log into your Flipkart account. Keep on refreshing the page from time to time but not very close to 2pm. Please ensure you have a stable internet connection or else you won’t have much chance of getting the Redmi 1s. We have also reported about the rampant black marketing of the Xiaomi Redmi 1s, which might lead to many people getting disappointed after the sale.

Today, we saw Google launching the Android One initiative with three smartphones from Karbonn, Micromax and Spice. They have been priced around Rs 6,400 which is close to Redmi 1s’ price and will be available exclusively on Snapdeal, Amazon and Flipkart respectively till September end. After that, they will be available in retail stores across India unlike the Redmi 1s. We are still confident that all 40,000 units will be sold out instantly and Android One’s launch won’t have any effect on it.

To recap on the specifications, Redmi 1s is a budget phone from Xiaomi which is priced at Rs. 5,999. It has a 4.7 inch 720P LED IPS Display with 321 ppi. It comes with QualcommSnapdragon 400 MSM8228 1.6GHz processor. On the camera front, it has a 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.6 megapixel front facing camera for selfies. It comes with a 2050 mAh removable battery. It has AGC Dragontrail scratch resistant glass instead of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Redmi 1s has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It weighs 158 grams and is 9.9 mm in thickness. It comes with an expandable storage slot which can fit in SD cards up to 64GB. It will come preloaded with Android 4.3 JellyBean (upgradable to 4.4 Kitkat) with MIUI v5 on top. It is a dual SIM phone with only one SIM supporting 3G. You can find more about it here.

Xiaomi has also started selling the Piston 2 headphones today and we have already reviewed them. You can check out our review here. The sale of Mi 3 has been suspended for an indefinite period and we believe the Redmi Note will go on sale on the first week of October.
