40,000 units of Xiaomi Redmi 1s sold out in 4.2 seconds; registrations for next sale starts at 6 pm today

Xiaomi Redmi 1s went on sale today at 2 pm on Flipkart. Over 2,50,000 people had registered for it and 40,000 units were only available for purchase. It was literally war out there and we emerged victorious by successfully placing an order for a friend. Registration starts at 6 pm today. To register go here, now.


Fortunately, we were able to place an order but literally many people ie, over 2,00,000 people would have turned disappointed by the scheme of things. Many recalled their horror with the Mi 3 sales as they couldn’t get it that time as well. The official numbers are still not yet but we expect the Xiaomi Redmi 1s to be sold out in near about 2 seconds.

To recap on the specifications, Redmi 1s is a budget phone from Xiaomi which is priced at Rs. 5,999. It has a 4.7 inch 720P LED IPS Display with 321 ppi. It comes with QualcommSnapdragon 400 MSM8228 1.6GHz processor. On the camera front, it has a 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.6 megapixel front facing camera for selfies. It comes with a 2050 mAh removable battery. It has AGC Dragontrail scratch resistant glass instead of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Redmi 1s has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It weighs 158 grams and is 9.9 mm in thickness. It comes with an expandable storage slot which can fit in SD cards up to 64GB. It will come preloaded with Android 4.3 JellyBean (upgradable to 4.4 Kitkat) with MIUI v5 on top. It is a dual SIM phone with only one SIM supporting 3G. You can find more about it here.
