ASUS has sold 25,000 units of Zenfone 2 on April 23, within 24 hours of its launch. The company promises to re-stock more units of their flagship device by mid May.
ASUS India launched not one, not two but four variants of Zenfone 2 in india on April 23 – Zenfone 2 ZE550ML, Zenfone 2 ZE551ML with Full HD display and 2GB RAM, Zenfone 2 ZE551ML 4GB RAM with 32GB ROM and 64GB ROM. These are priced at Rs 12,999, 14,999, 19,999 and 22,999 respectively.
The company claims to have received 25,000 pre-orders of Zenfone 2 within a day of its launch exclusively on Flipkart on April 23. ASUS will re-stock at regular intervals which would ensure regular availability. The next batch is scheduled to arrive by mid May and we would hope it to be more than 25,000 considering the demand from the Indian consumers. ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE551ML Specifications
The ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE551ML features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) LED display along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The display comes with a 72% screen-to-body ratio which indicates it has a slim bezel. It is powered by a 2.3 GHz 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor, which is said to be up to 3.1 times faster than some of its quad-core competitors. On this chipset, the graphics performance is also promised to be up to 8.1 times quicker and this supports OpenGL 3.0.
The ASUS Zenfone 2 has a whopping 4 GB of RAM which makes it the first smartphone/phablet to sport such a configuration. On the camera front, it has a 13 megapixel rear ‘Pixelmaster’ camera with an f/2.0 aperture. It has zero shutter lag and also has “the world’s best HDR technology” according to the company. There is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies and video calling. It also packs in innovative features which includes a Beautification mode, that offers real-time image enhancement, skin softening and brightening, blush and colour correction, eye enhance and cheek thinning.
The ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE551ML will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box with Zen UI on top of it. The company promises a better zero-lag touch experience with the new Zen UI and it will also feature ‘Zen motion’ that is basically gestures which can be used for assessing various applications. There will be an option called ‘SnapView’ which will allow you to separate work and personal accounts in the new Zen UI.
On the connectivity front, it comes with 4G LTE/3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS. The ASUS Zenfone 2 has a 3,000 mAh battery under the hood which also comes with fast charging technology and charges 0-60% in around 39 minutes which is impressive.
