YU Yureka will go on sale for the first time exclusively on Amazon India tomorrow (January 13) at 2pm. Only 10,000 units will be up for grabs for the users who have registered for the flash sale.
YU Yureka was launched on December 18 exclusively on Amazon India for just Rs 8,999. It has top of the line hardware with 4G LTE along with Cyanogen OS. This makes the device a sure shot winner but there is a catch. It will be sold via flash sale, where people need to register before hand in order to get in a virtual queue on the sale day, to get a chance to purchase the device. In short, it is the ‘Xiaomi Flash Sale Model’ with a slight twist.
Over three lakh people have registered for tomorrow’s flash sale which will only have 10,000 units up for grab. The phablet will go on sale at 2pm on Amazon and interested users should login to their account at least 10 minutes before (1:50 pm). As, over three lakh people have registered for the flash sale and only 10,000 units will be available, it will be a virtual fastest finger first contest.
The first lucky 10,000 people who will be able to add the device to their cart, needs to order it and check out within 15 minutes. Only 15 minutes will be available for the consumer to order it unlike Xiaomi devices which stay in cart for more than 8-12 hours.
People who are not lucky to be in the first 10,000 should click on the ‘Waitlist’ button and wait for their turn. In case, anybody doesn’t check out in 15 minutes, it will be passed on to the ‘Waitlist’ people. We assure you many people won’t be able to check out in 15 minutes as in many areas ‘COD’ option is not available with many other factors.
Amazon also advises to keep on refreshing the site once you’re in the ‘Waitlist’. If even the Waitlist gets full, you cannot do anything and have to wait for the next flash sale. If you manage to purchase the YU Yureka tomorrow, then you should consider yourself extremely lucky. It won’t be an easy task for Amazon to handle the pressure and we won’t be surprised if the site goes down with sheer amount of traffic.
YU would be announcing the next flash sale date tomorrow and according to the company, they would be increasing the number of units in the subsequent weeks. We would assume the second flash sale will take place on January 20 and registrations would open tomorrow evening.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, a similar phablet like the Yureka, will go on sale tomorrow at the same time on Flipkart. Although, 50,000 units will be up for grab.
To recap the specifications, YU Yureka phablet features a 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display with Gorilla Glass 3 covering. It has 2 GB of RAM and comes with 16 GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card. It runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Cyanogen OS 11 on top of it. Cyanogen will come up with a ROM based on Android 5.0 Lollipop soon and Yureka will be the first device in the world to get it. Also, YU and Cyanogen promises OTA updates every month.
